What if the weather is bad?
Our tours take place rain or shine! Why? Rain in the subtropics is commonplace, and storms in the Florida Keys are typically very isolated. We’ll almost always be able to “wait out the storm” (which usually only lasts for a few minutes), and continue on our way once the storm has passed. It also helps to be prepared for all weather when joining our trips.
However, despite being located in the sunshine state, the occasional very rainy or very windy day may keep us from being able to participate in certain activities. If we do need to cancel a certain activity due to unsafe weather conditions, we’ll provide you with other, “more weather-appropriate,” tour options. Should this not be to your satisfaction we can work with you to reschedule your activity for a different day, or provide you with a full refund.
How do I book a trip?
It is easy to book a trip or set up a vacation package by calling us at 1-877-99-GO-ECO, or e-mailing us at info@goecokeys.com. Let us know the dates you plan on visiting the Keys, the activities that most interest you, the number of people in your party and your contact information. If we are in the field when you call, we will return your call as soon as we return.
How much does the trip cost?
EcoKeys strives to provide both ecologically and economically friendly ventures in a competitive local market. Because each EcoKeys activity is usually customized, each tour will have a different associated cost. How many other people will be on the trip?
EcoKeys values the small group dynamic and strives to keep maximum group numbers lower than other tour companies in the area. This number will vary among our activities, but you also have the option to request a private tour. Are any of these trips dangerous?
As long as everyone adheres to the instructions given, the chances of experiencing dangerous situations are minimal. However, when it comes to working with mother nature, there is always a slight risk. To further reduce any potential danger, each and every tour is preceded by a safety orientation and all activities are led by an experienced guide. Rest assured, we make safety a top priority.
Is there a minimum age?
There are no age requirements for all but two of our activities. For any S.C.U.B.A. activities, participants must be at least 10 years old. To snorkel with the dolphins, children must be at least 8 years old. Younger children can participate in the dolphin “wade” program tailored specifically for kids. Is a deposit required to secure my spot on a trip?
This depends on the tour you are interested in. Upon booking, we’ll need a credit card number to reserve space for all tours. Please note that some of the tours do require deposits. Please call or email for more information on deposits and our cancellation policy.
What languages do you speak?
Se habla ingles y espanol. La mayoria de las excursiones estan disponibles en espanol. At EcoKeys we speak English and Spanish. Most of our guided tours are available in Spanish for your convenience.
