Sample Itinerary
The tours generally get started when you arrive at Everglades National Park at 1 p.m.* and begin with a two-hour “swamp walk.”
After this hike, you’ll relocate to the coastal mangrove estuaries of Flamingo where you’ll board kayaks and begin exploring the waters of Florida Bay from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
As the sun begins to slide towards the sea, you’ll drift among the mangrove islands in your kayak while experiencing a sunset that you won’t soon forget.
The tour will wind down with a night walk from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. where you’ll venture into the cypress domes to search for nocturnal wildlife.
*IMPORTANT NOTE – Due to changes in sunlight, tours scheduled in the winter season will begin early morning and can last as long as you prefer. We recommend a full day tour to maximize wildlife sightings.
Other Options:
Include a Key Largo backcountry tour in your Everglades experience. With this option, your day begins with boarding a boat in Key Largo and exploring the waters of Florida Bay as you head up to the Everglades. You’ll then meet your Everglades guide on land and continue your tour of the freshwater swamps and marshes. You can return to Key Largo via boat, or watch the sunset in the Everglades and hitch a ride home with your guide.
What’s included:
- Kayaking, hiking and swamp walking
- Opportunity to customize your trip to your abilities and preferences. Tours are often led in small groups to maximize wildlife sightings
- All equipment for each phase of the tour is provided; however, you’ll need to bring plenty of water, lunch, snacks, sunscreen and a camera
- EcoKeys t-shirt
